Friends,
Daylight
savings time comes early this year. "Spring
forward" is the term used to remember to set your
clocks ahead one hour. Of course later in the year you "fall
back" to Eastern Standard Time.
Most of us
dread this time of year because in a sense we lose an hour
(of sleep) and find ourselves adjusting to the change for
the next several weeks. It's hard to find that hour lost especially
when our routine doesn't change accordingly. Where does that
hour go anyway?
Ephesians
5:15-17 states, "See then that you walk circumspectly,
not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the
days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand
what the will of the Lord is." Redeeming means "To
save from a state of sinfulness and its consequences. "
Daylight savings
time is not the only time when we lose hours. We waste precious
time that we have been given on frivilous activities, mindless
thougths, and worthless conversation. Video games, TV and
news events keep us occupied for hours on end, turning our
minutes into mush.
Let us be wise with our time. Whether we "spring
forward" or "fall back" we still
have the same amount of time each day. Spend some time planning
ways to save time during the daylight because "night
is coming when no man can work".
“Mankind
does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes
from the mouth of the LORD.”
